Literature Text

I'm breaking through these chains, trying to find a way
For you have given me no reason to stay
With blood on my hands and my heart
I start my journey from the start

As I walk up the hill, I look down below
Who knew that death could be so mellow?
This death I breathe in
A new path is where I begin

You lied
I cried
I begged and pleaded
You said you were all I ever needed

Heartbreak, visible on the skin
Strength, I could find some within
Said, love is only skin deep
Grinned, I descended  below with a leap

Happiness consumed
No longer was I doomed
With tears I laughed, I am free
And here you thought you could control me
This poem can be interpreted any way you want. I wrote it in mind of some kind of mental illness or addiction though. Since you are the reader you can interpret it in any way that relates to your life.

Yes, it is a rather dark poem but it is that of a positive one because it's about someone breaking out of something that was essentially holding them back.

Do tell me what you think, please!

I like it. To me it's about overcoming fear - also, I could see this put to music. Nice work! ^^
